Hi Scott - I just saw you
message about the end being near for you site.. Maybe not.. Perhaps
you can change a few things, let me explain: As a fan it is great to
share experiences ideas and knowledge with other fans online but in
general as far as bootlegs and media go it is safer to just collect
stuff for your own interest and not put them online. Unless you are
paying royalty for the use of audio and video content on an
unofficial site it violates the copyright of the song writers and
others involved in the creation of the artistic works. Doing this
also potentially infringes on agreements Kylie, her label or others
she works with have between them such as exclusivity rights. Also,
unless you have a model release agreement you really shouldn't be
promoting or offering photos of her either though I know this tends
not to be an issue on fan sites if they are in good taste. There is
a tough line which is hard not to cross but some times there is such
a thing as being too supportive. You can always be the biggest fan
by doing the right thing by Kylie and the people she works with. Go
to the shows, buy the official merch and help send people to her
official sites to get the latest news and confirmed shows and
appearances. Let her own PR people spread the news, they are paid to
do it, just show other fans where they can find it. Maybe you can
change the focus of your site to be this kind of fan support hub and
focus it to send people to the right places for the right things and
just remove the unauthorised content. |
